What is Reiki

Reiki means "universal life energy". It is a Japanese energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, stress relief, and overall well-being. It involves the gentle placement of hands on the body to channel healing energy, helping to balance the body's natural energy flow.


Reiki works on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels, supporting the body's ability to heal itself.

How does it feel

While everyone's experience is a little different, many describe feelings of glowing radiance that flow through and around the body. At the practitioner's hand placements, you may feel a very slight tingling, heat, or energy, or nothing at all.


Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. 

What to expect during a session

Reiki sessions typically last 60 minutes. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to  prepare for the session. Expect to spend the entire session lying on your back, fully clothed on a treatment table. The practitioner will work with their hands touching lightly on your body.


The goal of the session is relaxation, so there likely won’t be much talking. It’s important, however, that you tell the practitioner if you need any adjustments at any point during the session.


Reiki therapy does not replace medical or physiotherapeutic treatments, but supports the recipient's needs on an energetic level.
